Our History

Born and raised in the Ozark mountains near Springfield Mo, Caleb is a local boy through and through. Joining the Fire Department at an early age fueled a passion for serving others and helping neighbors. Caleb continued his service when he joined the USAF as a civil engineer, building and maintaining infostructures across the base.

Caleb fondly tells stories of growing up around his Grandma, and how amazing the food she cooked tasted and smelled. He remembers the smiles that everyone had at the holidays, and how happy they were eating that good home cooked food. In the Air Force Caled started Wing Wednesdays, A day where everyone in the CE Squadron was welcome to come and have some wings and beer, and of course vent about how they hated everything, as well as talk through tough problems. Caleb saw what a difference this small gathering was having on moral, how everyone was happier after good food and company.

Caleb has always had a love for cooking, He first remembers making biscuits with his Grandma Ruth at age 8. By age 12 he was cooking whole meals for his family. Caleb remembers a brisket he cooked when he was about 18 “ It was so dry and hard it was like chewing on jerky, at least the rub was good LOL”. Then there were steaks, “I was overseas and once a week we had steaks, but they needed some help to grill them all up, so I volunteered, I was getting pretty good by this time lol. I remember one week this Col comes up after he ate and said “Thanks for grilling my steak every week, makes me feel like I am back home” and he smiled, I knew then I had to get this out to more folks, we all need to smile more!

From wings to steaks to everything we do now, we know, we have some of the best BBQ you can find. Why do we do this, the long hours, checking temps, trimming our way and making sure every bite is better than the last? Caleb said this-” One thing that has always bugged the sh*t out of me is, going into a BBQ place and the meat taste plain, no smoke flavor, no seasoning, just bland and dry. We want you to taste the smoke, get your hands dirty and of course have a good time. That’s where we came up with, Taste That Smokey Smoke. You can taste that our food comes off a smoker, is well seasoned and is juicy, the way BBQ is sposed to be. We want our BBQ to make you smile, it’s kind of a service really, we cook it all with care and love, like Grandma did!”. That why we do all this, it’s for YOU, to bring you great BBQ that makes you smile!
